About the Catholic Company Man

Who I am

As a 25-year veteran of the corporate world, I have grown increasingly curious about our beautiful Catholic faith. My journey led me to a deepened understanding and commitment. In June 2025, I was honored to be ordained a Catholic Deacon in the Diocese of Boise, Idaho, blending faith and career.

The Booklet

The Journey to the Diaconate

This short booklet was inspired by five guys who received the call to become Catholic Deacons. That line might sound like the start of a hilarious joke, but it's the foundation of a meaningful journey. This little book reflects the winding path to the clergy within the context of Catholicism. Once ordained, a Catholic Deacon is obedient to his local bishop; however, let’s be honest—he first answers to his wife, who even has the right of first refusal on his ordination. Before the ordination, a prospective deacon's spouse must give her approval to the bishop through a sealed handwritten letter. Without that letter, the journey ends. This booklet is written as a letter to friends and family, offering a humorous exploration of vocation, career, and the intersection of faith and career.

Book cover titled 'Deacons: God willing' by Eric Meyer and others.
