I am a 25 year veteran of the corporate world who has found himself more and more curious about our beautiful Catholic faith. I was ordained a Deacon in June 2025 in the Diocese of Boise, Idaho.
This short booklet was inspired by five guys who got the call to become Catholic Deacons. That line sound like the start of an hilarious joke. If only. This little book reflects the winding journey to the clergy. Once ordained, a Catholic Deacon is obedient to his local bishop. Well let's be honest. He answers first to his wife, then to the bishop. The wife even has first right of refusal on ordination. By sealed handwritten letter, just before ordination, a prospective deacon's spouse give her approval to the bishop. Without that letter, it's over. This booklet is written as a letter to friends and family. In it you'll enjoy a humorous journey through vocation, career, and discernment.
The Catholic Company Man is a journey through faith and career. More than twenty years in the trenches with global pharmaceutical companies gave rise to this book. A cradle Catholic, I found a deepening curiosity for understanding our faith. The stories come from years of interesting happenings while wrestling with the balance of career and family. This book is an on-ramp to the brilliance of Catholicism for those of us who don't yet have the theological chops to jump head-long into Aquinas.
“This highly personal, hard-wrought reflection on living out the faith in corporate America is long overdue. It is the fruit of one who has wrestled with real life faith issues that are both engaging and timely. I highly recommend it!”
—Chase Hasenoehrl, pastor, St. Augustine’s Catholic Center
“In The Catholic Company Man, Meyer offers so many interesting anecdotes, takes the reader to so many different places, and, best yet, effortlessly connects his work in a narrative that is both fun and easy to read. I look forward to this book being an essential for any Catholic looking to better live their faith while they live their life.”
—Gracjan Kraszewski, director of intellectual formation, Vandal Catholic
"Meyer's book is an insightful look into the practicalities of living out the Catholic faith as a working man. His stories serve as a guide to help young men understand the difficulties they may face being Catholic in the corporate world."
-Samuel Harris, FOCUS missionary, MA in Catholic Studies
